Commonwealth Courts is a specialty business of The Boyd Group of VA, a commercial general contractor, licensed and insured in the state of Virginia since 1998.

 

While we build commercial buildings and provide tenant upfit services to all types of businesses, more and more we are asked to help build and restore recreational facilities.

 

Charlie Boyd, founder of Commonwealth Courts has played sports (including basketball, tennis and golf) his entire life. He played college basketball at Randolph Macon in Ashland, VA, enjoyed attending NBA Rookie Camp with the Milwaukee Bucks, and followed that with a year of overseas basketball playing for the Brixton Topcats, of the English Basketball Association.  In 1997 he started his own development and construction company called The Boyd Group of VA. Over the last 20 years, Charlie developed several commercial real estate projects and completes numerous other commercial and residential construction endeavors every year. Charlie has continued to play basketball, tennis and golf as well as coach his sons in AAU basketball, coaching high school basketball, and teams in the Upward

Basketball program at his church. Basically, Charlie loves basketball and has a huge knowledge base to advise his customers on best court placement, materials, dimensions and overall construction. Because of his participation in sports and contacts he has made, he is frequently asked to build, repair or consult on recreation related projects. That is how Commonwealth Courts was born!

The court construction and restoration business is a niche market that we enjoy working in due to our passion for all sports, especially basketball and tennis.
